A Step By Step Guide To Increasing Your Blogs Traffic

You want to drive more traffic to your blog, but how do you get started?

There are a huge number of tactics that you can use, some work better than others, and some require more time to get working.

But the truth is that even if you’ve found traffic generation challenging, you can make it work, and I’ll show you how.

Earlier this year I published a huge guide on this topic, and while all of the tips I shared were actionable, it takes a while to read through.

So, I’ve had the entire post converted into an infographic full of bite-sized tips you can use and use for future reference.

This infographic makes a great swipe file that you can refer to whenever you need a way to give your traffic a boost.

Key takeaways

Here are a few important things to consider when applying the tips from this infographic:

  • The right traffic matters – Whichever tactics you use to drive traffic to your blog, make sure that traffic is as targeted as possible. The right traffic is a critical part of building a community.
  • Just a few of these tactics can make a big difference – With the right amount of effort and patience, you can take several of these and get plenty of traffic.
  • Your email list is your most valuable asset – It’s worth building a following on social networks, but sending your subscribers your latest posts will drive far more people back to your blog. Read this post to find out how to grow your email list.
  • A great user experience will keep people coming back – Too many ads, slow page load times and other usability issues will drive people away. Remove the clutter and keep your blog focused.

  • Absolutely love the infographic and tips, Adam! So many people want to know “what’s the secret?” to generating traffic. You answered. Thanks!

  • Hey Adam,

This one may not be for the “faint of heart” content marketers, but if you’ve taken the time to make an epic post that’s more of a comprehensive guide, and are comfortable recording videos you can make it into a Udemy course.

I spent 6 hours total doing this, and have gotten over 2200 students to one course, and it grows passively.

You can email these students any time you have a new post, and it sort of acts like another email list to promote your content.

    • Hey Travis,

Awesome to hear how well your Udemy course has worked out.

I love the idea of doing a course, got plenty of ideas to work with too.

Didn’t realize that could be done – another list to promote content to is great.

      Thanks for mentioning this, Travis.

  • Stephanie Lynn

Thank you so much for all your tips! I always look forward to your emails!

This is the great post to improve the blog traffic Adam.

Infographic post is simple, nice and precise as well.

Editing and repurposing the old posts are the good way to improve our traffic.

Thanks Adam for the helpful post, will try to implement the missed strategies to progress my blog audience.

    • Thanks Nirmala, glad you liked the infographic 🙂

I really appreciate the invite to be a guest blogger on your blog, not sure if I’ll be able to but something to consider in the future!

Keep up the great work with your blog!

      • Nirmala Santhakumar

          • Awesome to hear, Nirmala 🙂

  • Hi Adam,

Excellent as always. Nail down the right traffic. Power add. If you want more traffic think through why you want more. In my case I craved more because I had not enough quality traffic. I wanted more, then, I wanted more good, quality, targeted traffic who was interested in what I had to offer. Making these folks my target put me on the straight and narrow again so I could stay on topic and share in all of the right places.

    • Thanks Ryan!

Great point about identifying the why – staying on topic and sharing in all the right places is the way to go.

      – Adam

  • Sue Anne Dunlevie

      Talk soon,

  • Joan Stewart

A tactic I see smart bloggers using is to search for blogs that already have written about a topic they’ve just written about. They email the blogger, reference that blogger’s earlier and usually out-of-date post, and let them know about the newer information and suggest they include a link in the old blog to their new post. I’m a blogger and I love this, especially when the pitch is on my topic. Thanks for this cool infographic, Adam.

    • Joan, that’s a great tip – thanks for sharing!

      My pleasure 🙂

  • Sarah Arnold

Hi Adam~ thanks for the succinct and thoughtful post! My take away is to work on my own tribe. My niche is so specialized that it is hard to find others with similar interests. I will definitely save this one and share it 🙂 Best wishes, Sarah

    • Hi Sarah, my pleasure!

Working to grow your own tribe is definitely the way to go.

For very specific niches like yours, there’s hopefully some decent sized online communities such as Facebook groups you can use to network & grow your tribe.

      Keep in touch 🙂

      All the best,

  • Sarah Arnold
